[A phone rings and answered before the first tone ends.]

“No... I don't know where he is.”

[With force enough to make the desk shake the phone is pushed down onto the receiver. ]

[The figure behind the desk sharpens and this time it is not Mike Sloan. Sitting behind the desk is a young man with a dirty blond crew cut and a scowl. This would be Mike Sloan's tag partner Curtis Penn. Who happens to be fielding phone calls about the where-abouts of promoter and operator of the Wrestling Academy.]

[He runs his hand through his bristled hair before releasing an exhausting sigh.]

Penn:
If you're asking me... and I know you are because of the little video camera in your hand... where Mike Sloan is the answer is I have no friggin clue.

[He casts an evil glace at the telephone, daring it to ring again.]

Penn:
I haven't seen him since we left the arena at the end of Season 2. He was in his usual uproar about being used and abused by Eric Dane …

[His lips form into a tight knot of disgust.]

Penn:
Again... what is this the one billionth time that Dane has enlisted the services of Mike and Mike getting the raw deal? He should be used to it by now. And Eric...he got what he deserved.

[A slow clap sarcastically emerges from Curtis Penn.]

Penn:
Well played Andrews you had us all fooled the entire season. But you're hand has been played... the deck has been shuffled and it's time for a new game.

[Curtis slams his hands down onto the top of the desk and raises to his full form of just a little over six feet and he stares into the camera.]

Penn:
Defiance is starting this season off with a bang! Jeff Andrews threw out the gauntlet for Defiance's newest prize, The Fist of Defiance.

[A smile forms, this is the first time that a smile has formed on his face, I think his faced cracked when it did form.]

Penn:

That's nice Jeff... I like bad odds. To run roughshod though this gauntlet will be my pleasure.

[He pauses.]

Penn:
Besides, not everyone likes deception. Some of us really like to stand face to face and force feed their opponents a stiff elbow.

[His smile widens.]

Penn:
Coward.

[Fade out.]
