Title: Stockholm Syndrome
Featuring: Claira St. Sure
Date: 1/20/13
Location: fack

When Kai Scott managed the Truly Untouchables, he would give instructions to Claira St. Sure and Jonny Booya.  After making sure they were following them, he’d take Diane Parker off to the side and explain to her why he gave the orders.  If he had a lesson for them, he’d explain to Diane later why he chose that particular lesson.  And so when Kai abandoned the Truly Untouchables to step back into the ring, Diane was ready where he’d left off.

Trying not to think too hard about any moral complications involved in the match against Tom Sawyer, she’d gotten all the footage of the kid she could find.  There was, unfortunately, not much of it, what with all of Def 1.0 and the first half of Def 2.0 missing.  She knew of the two Aggro Crags, knew of the TLC match with The Untouchables and $$Cool, but she couldn’t get hold of them.

Not that it mattered.

Instead of watching Tom Sawyer footage, Claira watched War Games.  Over, and over, and over again.

“You know that if Tom’s being quiet it means he’s pretty badly hurt” Diane said to her, “because he’s usually got one of the biggest mouths in wrestling.”

Claira nodded without taking her eyes off of War Games.

“Have you watched any of the Sawyer footage?”

On War Games, Alceo Dentari had jumped on Claira’s back and put her in a sleeper hold.  Kai (disguised as Yoshikazu YAZ) kicked Claira right below the neck, at the top of the breastbone, knocking her over backwards, but causing Dentari to get sandwiched between her and the mat.

Claira paused it.

“I think he was helping me.”

Diane’s first thought was ‘Stockholm Syndrome’.

“Team Evolution was going to beat you with a fifteen pound metal bolt.” Diane said, as quietly and gently as she could.

“And before they did, he got Sam Turner Junior so angry that he turned around and attacked them.”

Diane said nothing.

She remembered being shocked that “YAZ” would do something so stupid.

“Everything in that match he ‘did’ to me didn’t hurt.”  Claira went on. “A couple of chops and boot chokes, and he didn’t even put his foot in the right place for the chokes.  It was like he was trying to make it look like he was fighting me without actually… doing anything.”

“And then he tapped out to your spider twist.” Diane said.

“I’m sorry it wasn’t the real YAZ, I really wanted to pay him back for what he did to you.” Claira said.  “But… maybe it wasn’t a coincidence that YAZ ended up getting his back broken by Dan Ryan, too.”

Diane knew wrestling strategy pretty well by now, but she had no idea what on earth she could say to someone desperately grasping at straws to deny the fact that her beloved mentor had turned on her.

“Well, anyway, War Games is over.  You want to win the FIST, don’t you?”

Claira nodded.

“Well then you can’t look past Tom Sawyer!  Even injured he’s one of the big deal wrestlers in Defiance, and the last thing you need is a loss to him before you get your FIST title shot.”

Diane put the best Tom Sawyer match she had access to on to play.  It was the one where he teamed with Jeff Andrews and Jack Cassidy – two of her least favorite people in the world – to take on the Worlds Longest Tag Team and Christopher Barton.

“I’ll be ready for Tom.” Claira said.  “I’m better with armlocks than with leglocks, but I bet I can take his leg out better than he can stop me from doing it.  IF I even need to.”
