Tucker G. Alston stands in front of the DEFIANCE logo on the standard black backdrop. It’s promo season for the upcoming TV39 show. And finally after waiting in line for a good hour or so, and being bumped by the BAWS who of course cut to the front of the line, it was his turn.
Tucker G. Alston:
Finally.
Finally I have a match against someone new. Against someone not from Harlan, Kentucky. Finally someone new to learn from, to adapt to, to further my career in this business. Finally a match against a very qualified, former world champion, and his partner, a newbie to DEFIANCE, even newer than myself. But this newbie has been wrestling for years in Europe, leaving me still the new guy in the match.
One final chance.
One final chance to get back at Chance and his Southern Heritage title. One final chance to get back at the only man to ever beat me. One final chance to get a shot at revenge at my only rival, my only nemesis in this business.
This is not something I can let slip through my fingers. This is not a match I can take lightly. I can’t act like Curtis Penn and think this is just another throwaway tag match made by lazy booking just to get as many people onto a show as possible. That’s just idiotic. And it’s a poor mindset for such an important match.
This is a tag match for a shot at the Southern Heritage championship. A title that I’ve tried to win twice already. And failed. But I will not fail in this match. I cannot fail. I have worked too hard, I have prepared too much just to get this far and fail. I will not allow myself to let this opportunity get away from me. I will not let it slip through my fingers.
Chance Von Crank doesn’t deserve to be a champion. He is an awful person that spews awful things from his mouth. He treats his girlfriend like an object and she’s fathering my partner’s child. He deserves everything that happens to him. The girlfriend. The lack of respect. And come Ascension, his failure and loss of the Southern Heritage Championship.
Of the men in this match that has a shot at that title. It’s certainly not some European nobody who no one in DEFIANCE has heard or seen him in well over a month. I’m not even sure he’s even in the country anymore.
It’s also not going to be some washed up old veteran who hasn’t done anything significant since I was wheeling and dealing on Wall Street. A man who’s so confused with his career, he actually attempted a top rope suicide dive against one of the best women to ever wrestle in this business. Who does that at that point of his career? Trying to act like some young twenty year old who’s got the agility of a gymnast. Curtis, you’re an old man. Stick to what you know. Headlocks and arm drags. Those are more your speed.
No. It won’t be either of them that has a shot at taking down CVC at Ascension.
Instead it’ll be the ones that actually have it out for him. That have something to prove. That have already gotten under his skin. It’s the two men that CVC actually talks about, is worried about, and looks over his shoulder for in Harlan. It’s going to be his baby daddy and me, the man who has gotten closest to taking that title away from that putrid man.
There is just too much at stake for the two of us. We have too much on the line. We can’t allow some unknown European and some washed up has been to get in the way of our goals. We have been working for weeks to get back at CVC for what he’s done. We’ve been focused on him for months. This is our long term goal. It’s right in front of us.
And Penn and Murray. Well. I didn’t even know they were still in DEFIANCE until the card was announced. Penn, you want to talk about how Turner, CVC and myself have been in some obscure corner of the wrestling world. Go ahead. At least we’re in the room. At least we have our spot. You and Murray have been irrelevant. You don’t have your corner. Murray hasn’t done anything in DEFIANCE except for flirting with some waitress on his way here. That’s how irrelevant the two of you are.
So go ahead and think it’s still 2005 Penn. It would make sense. Back then you were able to jump over the top rope. Back then you were somebody people cared about. And back then, you may have had a shot at beating me or Turner. It would also explain why your partner is nowhere to be found. Back in 2005, he didn’t exist to those that followed wrestling in this country.
But you’d be a fool if you actually thought that. It isn’t 2005. It’s now. And in this present, you’re nothing. You’re a has been. And I’m here to put you in your place.
You did say something right though Penn. You said that when you see me, you only see failure as an option. The part you got wrong was whose failure it will be.
