Jocelyne packs up her belongings as she exits the large lecture hall. Her eyes can’t believe it’s nighttime as her beloved college campus radiates with security lights both inside and out.

Jocelyne:
I love this place.

She mutters to herself as she turns a few corners before hipping the exit door crash bar. The campus is lush even at night. The heaviness of the fall air hangs as Jocelyne bops along.

Patrick:
Hey! Wait up!

That’s the distinct voice of the one and only Patrick, Jocelyne’s awesome new boyfriend. Jocelyne slows her pace without looking back and before she knows it, he’s at her side trying to catch his breath.

Patrick:
Hey, how was class?

Jocelyne:
Good. Got lots done but midterms are coming up soon so you know how that will go. Study, study, study.

Patrick nods as he regains his jock-like posture with his backpack slinged over one shoulder.

Patrick:
For sure. Another countless pizza box night?

Jocelyne chuckles delightfully.

Jocelyne:
You know it.

Patrick:
Throw in a couple cases of beer and call me intrigued. I am the college campus drinking champion, after all.

Jocelyne:
Sure. But not too many. Plus, you know me, I don’t drink much.

Patrick nods.

Patrick:
Yeah, I know. All good. Oh, hey, by the way, you shouldn’t be walking all alone across campus like this at night. At the very least, look over your shoulder to make sure you’re safe. I could have been anyone.

Jocelyne:
I knew who it was. All good. Thanks for caring about me, overprotective boyfriend.

Her voice comes off with a bit more sarcasm than she originally intended. Patrick doesn’t take any offense to it though.

Patrick:
Oh and one more thing, maybe we can put off studying to go to the fairgrounds sooner rather than later? I hear their churros are out of this world.

Jocelyne:
I’m not one for putting off academics but now I’m the one you can call intrigued.
