The glass door to the salon swings open as Jocelyne, bright eyed and bushy tailed saunters on in. She takes a seat for a minute before another woman approaches.

Nicolette:
Hi there, welcome to the salon. I’m Nicolette. Do you have an appointment?

Jocelyne lifts her gaze and smiles in return.

Jocelyne:
Why yes I do. I booked in for ten o’clock. My name is Jocelyne.

Nicolette walks around the front desk to check the schedule book just to make sure.

Nicolette:
Confirmed. I got your name right here. Come this way, Jocelyne.

The two walk to the second last stall on the right. Jocelyne plops herself down in the hairstylist chair as Nicolette works feverishly to set everything up.

Nicolette:
How are you today?

Jocelyne:
I’m great, thanks for asking.

Nicolette:
What would you like me to service you with? A cut and style?

Jocelyne raises a finger to her mouth in deep contemplation.

Jocelyne:
Hmmmmm. Well, I was planning on surprising my boyfriend so I think we should do something spunky. Curls and lots of them.

Nicolette chuckles as she gets to work.

Nicolette:
Going to surprise your boyfriend after this? How nice. Does he enjoy surprises?

Jocelyne:
Oh yes, all the time. He adores me and I adore him. We’re both in college so you know how it goes.

Nicolette grabs the curler and begins playing with Jocelyne’s hair.

Nicolette:
My, you have such nice hair. I just hope it looks good enough for your boyfriend.

Jocelyne tries to keep it together. She hasn’t been able to stop thinking about Patrick for a while now. She checks her phone real quick and notices it’s still clean of any notifications.

Nicolette:
You’re sure he’s cool with being surprised, right? I know many guys who hate that kind of thing.

The question lingers as Nicolette’s tone comes from a place of genuine concern even though she just met Jocelyne.

Jocelyne:
Yeah, I think he will be cool with it.

She sits there and can’t help but wonder exactly what Patrick has been up to lately but she sure as heck is about to find out.
