Bonus Scene - Griffith's Defiant Future?

AFTER SHOW SCENE FROM GRINDHOUSE: JAPAN
Eric , Angus Skaaland, Dusty Griffith
[Angus Skaaland and Eric Dane are set around the desk of DA BAWS’ makeshift office this evening. Skaaland’s mouth is running a mile a minute, as usual, while Dane sits silently, fiddling with last minute paperwork and his phone. The whole time, Dane seemingly nods instinctively to the rambling mess that is his long time associate.]
Angus:
I bet you the guy quits, he got his shot, he lost, he’ll give you some nice way of telling you this won’t work out and he’ll just stay in Japan, rather than stick around and really earn it. You know, just like his pro wrestling daddy, Jason Ramsey, who wasn’t good enough to be a real star back home. I’m just saying, Eric, you know? I realize you have a soft spot for the guy, because you helped bring him up with Wrestle Coast, but he’s really, just… Man the guy is annoying. I’m gonna laugh in his face and tell him what I really think of him when he gives you a pile of shit excuses for why DEFIANCE isn’t the place for him.
[The obligatory knock at the door comes, briefly interrupting the one man conversation that Angus was having. Dane remains seated, looking to Angus with a nod towards the door. Answering the door, Angus is there to greet the arrival of Dusty Griffith with a nod an almost condescending smile upon his mug.]
Dusty:
Angus.
Angus:
Heh.
[Dane looks up from his work, seeing Griffith and then Angus, his head shakes and eyes roll before waving Griffith over. Already in his street clothes, Griffith moves past Angus as he lugs his duffle over his shoulder. Taking a seat across from Dane, Dusty sets his bag down as Angus remains standing while taking up position at Dane’s flank.]
Dane: [eyes down]
Dusty, just want to thank you for jumping on for this tour, you stepped up for us when you didn’t have to.
Dusty:
Sure thing, boss.
Dane:
I appreciate it.
Dusty:
Well, alright then… Listen…
Dane: [looking up]
Look, the only thing that matters in DEFIANCE is who walks away with the belt.
[Angus grins, not even trying to hide it.]
Dane:
You asked for a shot at the title to get you in the door, and you lost. You want another one, take it up with Kai Scott. Whining to me isn’t going to make it happen, ‘cause my job isn’t to make you kids behave.
[Dusty leans back calmly, he expected this reaction. He looks over to Angus, noting the almost tiger-like anticipation he has to pounce, verbally that is. Leaning forward, he snorts and thumbs his nose.]
Dusty:
Hmmph, my reputation that bad nowadays is it?
[Dusty eyes Angus, halting the words that were about to come flopping out of his mouth. Shaking his head and letting a completely unsubtle “heh” loose, Dusty reaches down to his duffle where he produces a folder.]
Dusty:
First, I wanted to remind you that my temporary contract with DEFIANCE is done with...
[He sets the now expired contract on the desk.]
Dusty:
So… I figured you wouldn’t mind if we went ahead and replaced it with this. Anyway, I should get to it.
[Setting the next set of documents on the table, Griffith gets up as he lifts and slings his duffle over his shoulder before heading for the door. Before he leaves, he turns back, directing his words at Angus.]
Dusty:
I was this close to being the World Champion. I can still taste it and, brother, you better believe that I’m never going to rest until I am the World Champion.
[Looking at the document in his hands, Dane smiles at the words spoken as Dusty disappears behind the door. Angus looks down and points at the papers.]
Angus:
What’s that?
Dane:
It’s his full time contract.
[End.]
