[Python standing alone and confident against a black and red Defiance backdrop. He's rocking grey skinny jeans, a black fitted t-shirt, and casually spiked short hair, but the look on his face is all business. He gestures to the backdrop behind him.]
Python:
When I think of the word "defiance", I think of courage. The courage to be ruled by personal fortitude rather than power. The courage to grab power by the collar, look it straight in the eye, and say "fuck you." The Untouchables were defiance once.
We never saw eye to eye, but hell, we were soldiers cut from the same cloth on different sides of the war. We were what we were, we fought for what we believed in, and nobody could do a damn thing to stop us.
Here we are a few short years later. Jeff Andrews is king of the hill. The big cheese, the head honcho. The "baws". And like any tyrant king, he and his buddies are draped with gold and delirious with power, just waiting for somebody to defy them. Well I've got news for you fuckers. The wait is over.
The Untouchables are nothing more than a bullshit obstacle course. You fight one, you fight them all. That's been working real well for them. Maybe they think it'll work on me too... but I doubt it. Kai is too smart for that. Hell, Kai Scott is many things. He's a genius. He's a tactician. He's a fucking basketcase. But he's not a wrestler, not anymore. Kai Scott plays a wonderful game of chess, but scatter the pieces and toss away the board, and he's just a broken down coward standing in a mess. I defy your games. I defy your power. I defy your tricks, your traps, and your numbers. Every time I step in the ring, I defy gravity. I defy structure, I defy tradition, and I defy expectation. I am defiance. I always have been and I always will be. And I'm finally in the right place for it.
I see I got here just in time, too. Such a shame to see where things have headed in this great sport. It seems being an asshole has gone strongly into fashion. Assholes in charge, assholes in the ring, assholes on the mic, assholes as far as the eye can see. Thank god for the presence of a select few like Christian Light and The Good Fight for preventing this company from turning into one gigantic, collective asshole. Gentlemen, I'm here to even up the sides. Consider me the high-flying, do-gooding, asshole-kicking cavalry. I've loved professional wrestling for my entire life. It is my life, and I refuse to see it over run by people who don't respect it. Plenty of hard-working young athletes out there would kill for a spot in the big leagues. If you're out here cursing off the fans, cheating to win your matches, and playing politics for power, well... I've got a huge problem with you. And that's terrible news for you.
So while I'm here, I promise to kick over a few high horses, clean this place up, and remind this industry how to treat itself and its fans with respect. And it all starts at Retaliation with Kai Scott. I don't care how many Untouchables I have to go through that night. Send Ronnie, I'll drop your henchman. Send Jeff, I'll drop your world champion. Send Heidi. I miss the days when she wasn't a lunatic, but those days are dead, and you can bet your ass I'll drop her too.
For as long as there has been man, there has been power. And for as long as there has been power, there has been defiance. It has taken many sides and shapes throughout the timeless battle of good against evil. Here we have the slimy villain versus the daredevil hero. The manipulative general versus the unpredictable defiant. The Ace of Heels versus The Face of Death.
You know, snakes have another word for "heels". Nice and low to the ground, vulnerable, easy to strike. Yeah, we love heels. Except, we call them "targets".
[A grin slides across Python's face. As he reaches for the camera, the screen is filled with the image of the green and black snake tattooed around the entirety of the young high-flyer's arm for just a second, its jaws wide open and its eyes glaring wickedly into the camera. And then,]
[Black.]
