The door swings open as Teresa enters her home with exhaustion. It’s been a long day and she’s tired but finds some energy when she sees Mathias sitting on the couch, nursing a glass of brandy.

Mathias:
Hey.

Teresa:
Hey. Didn’t expect you to still be up.

Mathias fuddles with his glass.

Mathias:
Yeah. I’m tired. What a day. I wanted to wait for you though.

Mathias rises from his seat, sets his glass down and goes over to kiss his wife.

Mathias:
Missed you. I even texted you earlier.

One peck later and they are in a warm embrace.

Mathias:
How was your day?

Teresa:
That’s it? That’s the big reason you texted me to come home? Cuz you missed me?

Mathias nods and smiles.

Teresa:
You’re cute, I’ll give you that. Yeah, it was good. Busy but good. Saw Jocelyne for a while there which was nice.

Mathias disengages from his wife as he begins tidying things up for the night.

Mathias:
Oh, that’s good. I heard she’s back in school now. Hope nothing but the best for her. She’s good people after all.

Teresa just can’t watch Mathias clean up by himself, so she pitches in.

Teresa:
Yeah. It was nice to catch up, you know?

Mathias:
Totally. Is that all that happened? Anything else you want to tell me?

Suddenly, the atmosphere in the room draws cold as Mathias begins confronting Teresa about her actions.

Teresa:
What do you mean?

Mathias:
Was there anything else pressing you would like to share with me? You know, stuff I don’t know about but should?

Teresa just stares hopelessly into the eyes of her accusatory husband as if she is the one with something to hide.
