Post Ascension Reactions

Posted by Lance Warner on 4 Sep 2013

Lance Warner here with another DEFIANCEwrestling.com exclusive for all you DEF fans out there.

Needless to say all eyes were fixed firmly on the monitors backstage for the entirety of the three Ascension main events, and there wasn’t a pair of ears not listening to everything Eric Dane had to say as he addressed the direction DEFIANCE will be heading after losing its television deal with ESEN.

Very few competitors were willing to speak to me imediately after hearing The BAWS speak, preferring instead to watch the FIST of DEFIANCE Dog Collar match between Bronson Box and Dan Ryan, but I did manage to sneak a few words with Eugene Dewey and got an idea of some of his feelings on Dane’s announcement.

What do I think about going to Japan? No, I mean, yeah, I think it’s awesome. I think of Japan as like my Mecca, you know? There’s so many company logos that I grew up with that all came from Japan. Guys like Konami, Capcom, Game Freak, Sega, and Nintendo, they were the companies I knew everything about.  I’ve always wanted and intended to go, so if this is my chance then I’m totally up for it.

I just hope that going overseas coupled with the loss of the TV deal doesn’t mean we have to start cutting costs. I’ve gotten to know a lot of people round here, and I’d hate to see any of them lose their jobs. Obviously there’s a couple that, if they left, I wouldn’t exactly miss, but I’m sure that’s the same story everywhere. But no, I’m sure Eric Dane has all of that under control, and I have absolute faith in him.

Nobody else seemed interested in speaking to me until after the ladder match, and even fewer seemed to want to air any grievance following what transpired afterwards. To my surprise though, one man did step forward, former Trios Champion, Tony Di Luca.

Eric Dane? Eric Dane? Who gives a shit about Eric Dane, ain’t you seen what’s gone on out there tonight? Well let me fill yous in. What happened was everythin’ I told him was gonna happen. I told him for months, but would he listen? No. He just carried on, eyes on the prize, not givin’ a damn about me and Vinny over there. Now look at us, we ain’t got no titles, we ain’t got no rematch… we ain’t got nothin’.

Eric Dane can do whatever the fuck he wants with DEFIANCE. He can take us to strip malls, strip clubs, night clubs, Indian casinos, Japan, Russia, India, fuckin’ anywhere, I don’t give a shit. Wherever DEFIANCE goes we’ll be right there with it, ‘cause we want our titles back, an’ there ain’t no man, woman, child, or border guard gonna stop us.

I then asked for a word on where the team of Dentari and The Gorillas goes from here.

Yeah, I got a word for you. Actually, I got two: Fuck off.
