DEFIANCE Star Given All Clear, Speaks About Backstage Bust Up And Future

Posted by Lance Warner on 27 Nov 2013

This just in. Somehow… I thought I was supposed to know what was going on before it even happened.

DEFIANCE wrestler Eugene Dewey was discharged from a Tokyo hospital on Monday following precautionary scans after his brutal encounter with Seth Stratton at the Tokyo Korakuen Hall on Sunday.

When reached for comment Eugene told me “It was just a check up. I was feeling a bit woozy after going through the mat, I guess it’s fortunate Seth Stratton broke my fall. The doctors have said my dizziness would most likely be due to blood loss rather than any sort of concussion or something, so I should be fine in no time.

“That match with Seth was intense. I don’t think I’ve ever faced anyone in that environment before, so it was quite a shock to the system. Maybe going to hospital was a little over precautious, but when you’ve never experienced anything like that before it, at the time it makes perfect sense.”

When asked about his backstage confrontation with Bronson Box Eugene said “Box came in shouting about how he didn’t need stitching up and he looked pissed. You could tell the staff weren’t exactly comfortable around him, and when he’s flanked by Frank [Dylan James], and Ed [White], well that just adds to the intimidation factor.

“I was just about finished getting sewn back together, but I felt I had to say something. As I should have expected Box took exception to it and things got a bit heated. Was it the smartest thing to do? No, not really. But I wasn’t prepared to let Box do something that would lead to the closure of DEFIANCE’s doors for the second time.”

Following the victory at Grindhouse: Japan many have been citing Eugene as the one to watch in the coming months. Despite being initially reluctant to answer any questions on the matter I did manage to extract the following from Eugene in regards to his future with DEFIANCE.

“Right now I’m focusing on healing up. After that? Time will tell if I am indeed ‘one to watch’.”
